The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is not only a unique park it also offers several ideal settings for a picnic inside the park. There are several great outdoor dining options including Cafe 1230 with deck seating, Bridge View Barbecue, and Grill on the Hill. 

Relax with your meal near, Elk Park Amphitheater or Juniper Junction

Follow your picnic up with some fun things to do.  Most weekends, Thursday through Sunday’s there is live music at Elk Park Amphitheater noon to 4:00 pm. 

Keep Track of Time with the Park’s Unique Water Clock

One of the rarest clocks in the world (1 of 3), this timepiece is the only one of its kind in the state of Colorado. 

The waterclock is an electric-water wheel that keeps the time and shows the date you visit.   It is a replica of the one that stood for 30 years before the Royal Gorge Fire of 2013. It’s a fascinating resident of the park and a great family photo opportunity — fun fact, in the summertime we have photographers that are available to take these photos for you

If anyone in the family needs to walk off some energy, head for the Royal Gorge Bridge.

Speaking of the bridge, the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is home to America’s highest suspension bridge, which is definitely the main attraction. Stretching 956 feet above the Arkansas River, the Royal Gorge Bridge offers a stunning view of the natural landscape plus is a sight to behold in itself. 

To further immerse yourself in this beautiful area, the aerial gondolas glide 1,200 feet above the river for unparalleled scenes of the park and surrounding mountains.

If you and the family feel like traveling a little faster through the clouds, take a breathtaking ride on America’s highest zipline on the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park Cloudscraper. Unique hands-free harnesses zoom you 1,200 feet above the river and braking systems mean you can stop to take in the sights from above, and if you and the family really want to feel like you are flying, our Royal Rush Skycoaster dangles you at the same height after a 50-mph free fall through the air.

Please note, before you plan on taking the whole family on the Cloudscraper or the Royal Rush Skycoaster, there are some age/height restrictions.

  • All family members must be 10 years or older to ride the Cloudscraper zipline
  • Riders must weigh at least 100 lbs 
  • Riders must be 42” – 82” tall to ride the Royal Rush Skycoaster. 
    • Children that want to ride the Skycoaster will be fitted in harnesses to see if they are big enough to ride. 
  • All restrictions are subject to change.
