Start your summer strong with a variety of educational entertainment and events at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Cañon City, Colorado! The familiar sounds of summer are live music, children playing, and the lively hum of people spending time in the warm outdoors of the Royal Gorge Region. From live wildlife talks and demonstrations to petting zoos, face painting to ceremonial dancers, and blues bands to cultural arts, the events lineup for summer of 2022 at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park has fun for all ages and a chance to learn about the many natural and cultural aspects of our region. Summer Event Lineup at the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park
1. Cheyenne Mountain ZooMobile
Animals and keepers from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs bring the zoo to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park this summer! Guests of any age will have once in a lifetime memories from the animal experiences brought by the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Catch these animals from the zoo 12:30 – 4:30 pm on various weekdays and weekends starting May 29th through September 4th. Please visit our Events Page for specific dates, times, and details.
2. Deja Bluz
Love some good ol’ rock ‘n roll? You won’t want to miss this live band at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park! Deja Bluz is a local favorite who play blues, blues rock, and classic rock. Find them on stage during holiday weekends: Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, and one last show on October 22nd. 3. Fairy Face Paint
On holiday weekends from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, bring the kids to transform their faces into magical fairies with our expert and family-friendly face painters. 4. Grupo Folklorico del Pueblo
We love to bring the historical traditions of past and present cultures that are native to Colorado. Grupo Folklorico del Pueblo is a nonprofit community organization with the mission to educate and perform Mexican/Hispanic cultural arts. They play traditional music and perform dances of their culture while educating their audience on the importance of their arts. 5. Grupo Xochitl Aztec Dancers
Another huge hit at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park because of their cultural significance to our region are the Grupo Xochitl. Magnificent headdresses and ceremonial outfits will wow the crowd as the Aztec Dancers perform dances and songs that have been passed down through generations over centuries. 6. Shepperly Farm
Shepperly Farm is a local petting zoo farm in Cañon City who visits the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park during the summer. Included in the petter zoo are goats, pigs, wallabies, and more! Please visit our Events Page for specific dates, times, and details.
Since the return of inviting people in-person to our annual Easter Sunrise Event in April 2022, all of our staff at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park are excited to welcome visitors for more fun events this summer. From face painting to petting zoos, and ceremonial dancers to live bands, our summer events are fun for the whole family to spend time outdoors together in Colorado.
Event and Entertainment for Everyone
Summers at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park are packed with events, entertainment, and year-round adventures for the whole family. From experiencing the Royal Gorge 956 feet above the Arkansas River on the wooden planks of America’s Bridge to conquering the granite rock walls of the gorge on our Via Ferrata course, the heart-pumping and breathtaking experiences are waiting for you!
The summer events at the park draw visitors and travelers from local towns like Cañon City to big cities in surrounding states and from countries around the world. Our summer entertainment is special to our region in Colorado, relating to the ancient Aztec civilization and today’s members of Grupo Xochitl who perform choreography passed through many generations.
Education is important to these dancers as they demonstrate ceremonial performances, showing their significance to our regional history. More fun and education is brought to visitors and families at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park by our animal keeper partners like Shepperly Farm and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Shepperly Farm resides in Cañon City and provides people with a better understanding of the animals with hands-on animal education and knowledge on how to better care for them. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo visits us in the summer with their mobile animal exhibits. The ZooMobile team brings various species to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park like hedgehogs, exotic birds, porcupines, and more. Live music bands, face painting, and more supplement all the outdoor adventures available at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park.
